  1. Currency: Transportation of currency in any form is prohibited by Law.

  2. Bullion: Precious metals in bulk form is known as bullion, and are traded on commodity market. These metals can be casted in form of ingots or minted into coins.

  3. Indian Postal Articles: Indian Postal Articles like letters, cards, postal stamps, postal orders etc are not allowed to be moved from one location to the other.

  4. Illegal Drugs/Narcotics: Drugs / Narcotics / Pharmaceuticals banned by Law or requiring special permission cannot be transported.

  5. Liquids and Semi Liquids: These materials are banned so as to safeguard other shipments. Other shipments should not get spoiled just because of liquid or semi liquid products. However, these goods can be transported under special circumstances as full load consignments after declarations.

  6. Postal stamps and related items. Stamp sending through transportation is banned.

  7. Ammunition: The materials like gunpowder and artillery is banned from transportation.

  8. Pornography: Pornographic and related material are not allowed for transportation.

  9. Precious and Semi-precious items: If a material value is > Rs 6000/- per kg or Docket value greater than Rs 50,00,000/- then it is classified as precious material. We are not allowed to transport this kind of material. If urgency is there then an approval of CBCO (HO) is required.

  10. Radioactive Material: Radioactive materials are not allowed to be transported as these might lead to health disaster if not proper packing is done.

  11. Commodities banned by Law at any given time without prior notice

  12. Dangerous goods including filled LPG Cylinders.

  13. 3-D printing machines designed, or that function exclusively, to manufacture firearms unless accompanied by approval documents from relevant authorities and declaration.

As the GST regime rolled in, one of the major benefits was quick and easy movement of goods across  states all over India without any hindrance, all the check posts across the country are abolished. However, in order to monitor the movement of goods for controlling any tax evasion, an e-way bill system has been introduced. Electronic Way Bill or E-Way Bill  is a GST compliance mechanism for transportation of goods  wherein  the person causing the movement of goods uploads the relevant information prior to the commencement of movement of goods and generates Eway bill on the GST portal. In other words, the E-way bill is an electronic document generated on the GST portal with all the details about movement of goods. It include the name of the Consignor (Sender), Consignee (Receiver of goods), the point of origin of the consignment, delivery destination, the route and description of goods.

E-Way bill system is for GST registered person / enrolled transporter for generating the way bill (a document to be carried by the person in charge of conveyance) electronically on commencement of movement of goods exceeding the value of Rs. 50,000 in relation to supply or for reasons other than supply or due to inward supply from an unregistered person.

Who is required to generate EWay Bill for Transportation of Goods

  • CONSIGNOR OR CONSIGNEE OF GOODS : Where the goods are transported by a registered person – whether sender as a consignor or recipient as the consignee is transporting goods in his own conveyance or a hired one or a public conveyance, by road, the said person shall have to generate the e-way bill.

  • TRANSPORTER or TRANSPORT SERVICE PROVIDER : Where the e-way bill is not generated by the registered person and the goods are handed over to the transporter for transportation of goods by road, the registered person shall furnish the information relating to the transporter in Part B on the common portal and the e-way bill shall be generated by the transporter on the said portal on the basis of the information furnished by the registered person in Part A [Rule 138(3)].

  • Where the goods are transported by railways or by air or vessel, the e-way bill shall be generated by the registered person, being the supplier or the recipient, who shall, either before or after the commencement of movement, furnish, the information in part B [viz transport document number (Goods Receipt Number or Railway Receipt Number or Airway Bill  Number or Bill of Lading Number)] on the common portal [Rule 138(2A)].

  • Where the goods are transported by railways: there is no requirement to carry e-way bill along with the goods, but railways have to carry invoice or delivery challan or bill of supply as the case may be along with goods. Further, the e-way bill generated for the movement is required to be produced at the time of delivery of the goods. Railways shall not deliver goods unless the e-way bill required under rules is produced at the time of delivery.

  • The registered person or, the transporter may, at his option, generate and carry the e-way bill even if the value of the consignment is less than Rs. 50,000

  • Where the movement is caused by an unregistered person either in his own conveyance or a hired one or through a transporter, he or the transporter may, at their option, generate the e-way bill.

  • Where the goods are supplied by an unregistered supplier to a recipient who is registered, the movement shall be said to be caused by such recipient if the recipient is known at the time of commencement of the movement of goods.
